Getting Started

The Go Green Youth Challenge is set to begin January 15th, 2011. We have recently uploaded starter kit materials to our website that you can download. You will find an Entry Form, Collection Jar Label and Poster to Display. Limited quantities of printed starter kits are available. If you would like to receive one send an email to gogreenyouthchallenge@gmail.com or call 517-543-5848 x 114.

There are numerous resources to enhance your Go Green Youth Challenge and educate youth about the importance of trees. Finding my Forest is one resource we think is pretty cool. Finding my Forest includes an interdisciplinary curriculum designed to easily integrate into 3rd through 8th grade curricula and connect with diverse learning styles. All lessons have a Science and Environmental Education focus and incorporate other subject lessons: English Language Arts, Math, Music/Art and Social Studies. The first 10,000 registrants automatically receive a printed kit.

Not only does Finding my Forest have a curriculum available for download, but educators across the nation can connect to one another to share ideas and stories from their classroom. Better yet, you can also download a Field Guide by your zip code. Students can learn about the plants, animals and insects right in their own backyard! Encouraging students to learn about the environment around them is a stepping stone to becoming stewards of the land.
