Looking for a way to get outside AND help the environment?

Getting out of doors is a fun, mostly inexpensive, and relaxing way to enjoy your environment, but have you ever wanted to do more?  Get more from your outdoor experience than a memorable day and maybe a few photographs?  Then you might be someone who would benefit from particpating in one of the many volunteer opportunities offered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) .

Across Michigan, natural areas, state parks, and recreation areas managed by the DNR are in need of your help.  Every year the DNR hosts Volunteer Stewardship Workdays.  Projects vary depending on the time of year, but include:  invasive species removal, habitat restoration/improvement, and native seed collection and planting.  These are excellent options if you are looking to get a club, scout troop, classroom, or other community group more involved in Michigan’s outdoors.

By giving just a few hours of your time, you can give back to nature and help enhance the beauty of our little corner of the world.  Click here to learn more about this program, where to find a workday in your area, and how to sign up.
