Support WKAR, Support Trees

This is the week the environmental holidays of Earth Day and Arbor Day take place. Many think “green” during this week, but what can you do to celebrate?

Planting trees is one of the easiest ways to make a large impact on your surroundings. The benefits of that one tree will be felt for generations to come as it grows and matures. But what if you don’t have the space to plant your own tree? Than this may be a perfect option for you.

For the second time, the Michigan Arbor Day Alliance (MADA) will be partnering with WKAR on an Earth Day pledge drive. A portion of each pledge received by WKAR on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 will be donated to MADA’s Go Green Youth Challenge program. The Go Green Youth Challenge seeks to educate the youth of Michigan about the importance of trees and their role in both the environment and their lives. It also is a tree planting program. Participating students have the opportunity to win tree plantings for their school or community and tree planting grants are awarded each fall to communities across the state. All money raised for this program goes right back into Michigan.

Your donation, no matter how large or small, can help bring new trees to  our state.

So please consider donating to WKAR tomorrow. You CAN make a difference!
