Winners of the Go Green Youth Challenge

CHARLOTTE, MIMichigan Arbor Day Alliance is proud to announce the winners of the 2014 Go Green Youth Challenge (GGYC)! Oxford Extended Day Program of Oxford Schools raised over $700, by collecting change and holding a “hat day” fundraiser on St. Patrick’s Day. In recognition of this impressive accomplishment, the school district will receive a Grand Prize tree planting in their community in May. A representative also attended the State Arbor Day Celebration in Lansing on April 25th.


The Creative Writing Contest was included in the GGYC again this year, with 264 students from across the state participating. First, second and third place prizes were awarded for each of the three age categories. The winners are:


  • Juliet from Albion, First Place K-4th grade
  • Nathaniel from Bloomfield Twp., Second Place K-4th grade
  • Leandra from Middleville, Third Place K-4th grade
  • Madison from Clarkston, First Place 5th-8th grade
  • Krupa from Belleville, Second Place 5th-8th grade
  • Emily from Ortonville, Third Place 5th-8th grade
  • Ellen from Troy, First Place 9th-12th grade
  • Elizabeth from St. Johns, Second Place 9th-12th grade
  • Ethan from Brooklyn, Third Place 9th-12th grade

Information about the 2015 Go Green Youth Challenge will be posted on our website as details become available. Also, keep an eye on our website for information about the 2014 Go Green Youth Challenge Tree Planting Grants we will be offering this fall.
