Grand Prize Tree Planting Awarded!

Monday, September 22, staff from the Michigan Arbor Day Alliance and ITC Holding Corp. traveled to Oxford Township  to award the Grand Prize tree planting for this year’s Go Green Youth Challenge.

This year’s winner was Oxford Extended Day Program of the Oxford School District. Their elementary students raised $717 to plant trees in Michigan! They held two fundraisers at their schools. They gathered coins from their Extended Day Program families and held a “hat day” at Oxford Elementary. We want to congratulate these students for their amazing achievement. Their tree planting had to be delayed until the fall due to scheduling complications, but it was worth the wait. The students gathered at Oxford Elementary, learned about “Right Tree, Right Place,” and watched the trees being planted. The kids were all excited to be outside during the nice weather and enjoyed telling us all they knew about trees.

Congratulations again to the Oxford Extended Day Program for winning this year. We hope you will enjoy your new trees for years to come. 🙂
