Our 5th Grade Poster Contest is Back!

The Michigan Arbor Day Alliance is happy to announce the return of the 5th Grade Arbor Day Poster Contest!

This contest was previously organized by the national Arbor Day Foundation, with states participating at local levels. This contest ended in 2010 and we replaced it the following year with the Go Green Youth Challenge (which is where the name of this blog came from 🙂 ).

We have decided that it is time to get back to our roots, so to speak. So in 2017, we are bringing back the Poster Contest. This contest will be open to all Michigan 5th grade students – public, private, and homeschooled are welcome to enter.

Students are encouraged to use their imaginations to create an original poster design depicting the theme:  We All Need Trees.

Prizes will be awarded for First, Second, and Third Place and will include:

  • A gift certificate to Acorn Naturalists for the winning students
  • A gift card for the winning teachers to purchase classroom supplies
  • A tree planting for the school or community

The deadline to enter will be March 10, 2017. Poster contest rules and entry form can be found on our website. The website also has tons of resources for teachers who want to add tree activities to their lessons.

If you have any questions about this new contest, please contact Jennifer Hunnell, Program Coordinator, at miarborday@gmail.com or call (517) 588-6302.

We look forward to seeing all the fantastic entries next year!
